I have older style Offy heads on my '39 coupe and I have been using 437 plugs, based on an earlier (15+ years ago) recommendation. Is this still a good recommendation?

No I did not. The only work that I did was in the torque tube. The springs, u-bolts and nuts were as original.

I am interested in the details of you first paragraph. Do you have a drawing and description of what is going on in the torque tube (the gear, bearing, thrust washer, etc)?
