I used the same springs (49-54 Chevy PU) minus a few leafs on the rear of my 34 Ford coupe back in 1964. Still going strong, good ride.

I am building a 47 chopped coupe and will most likely run into the same problem. I will try to deepen and widen the spare recess in my trunk, it's sits right over the rear spring cross...
