Re: flywheel bolts?

Also, the flywheel bolts have to have thinner heads than standard bolts or they will possibly rub the springs in the center part of the clutch disc. The pressure plate bolts have longer unthreaded...

Chuck Cline in NH may have one. He has a VS on his '56, has been collecting parts for years. I sold him a bracket that looks like your, but it was cast bronze if I recall correctly. I can give you...

Re: motorcraft 2100 jetting ford 390

We are blessed with at least 10% alcohol in our fuel. Alcohol has less heat energy than gasoline. Therefore the diluted gasoline will naturally tend to run lean. #60 is a pretty good jump, but...

Re: 223 to 292 swap in a 58 Country Sedan

You will need a v-8 bell housing and flywheel. A donor car would be nice for obtaining the other v-8 specific parts, such as throttle linkage, radiator, etc. John

Re: e-brake spring R&R without a buddy

I always take a pair of wire cutters, slip the jaws under the end of the spring, compress the spring, grip the cable with the wire cutters, install the end in the lever, and release the cable. John

Re: Need '57 Fairlane 292 CID Vacuum Fuel Pump

Try your local parts store. The listed replacement is AC 4206. It will not have the glass fuel bowl, but you can probably install your original bowl if that is important to you. John

Re: Engine clicks when manually turning it

It's hard to diagnose a noise without hearing it, but if you engaged the starter without starting the engine, the starter drive will be engaged with the flywheel. It has a ratchet built into it,...

Re: though i found problem

Since the left head is running hot at the rear, check to see if the head gasket is on backwards. There should be a square corner of the gasket sticking out from under the head at the front, upper...

Re: 292 y-block rough idle sudden drop in oil pressure

Do you have halogen headlights? If so, they may be too much load for the breaker in the headlight switch, causing the lights to go off and on. John

Re: 292 y-block rough idle sudden drop in oil pressure

Here is my off the wall thought. How about the fuel pump? Not from a delivery point, but an alcohol caused deterioration of the diaphragm, causing gas to get into the crankcase. a '63 should have...

Re: Tappit noise

312s have solid lifters, they should sound the same, hot or cold. Either you don't have a 312 or you have some other noise. John

Re: 312

'56s had two terminals on the heat sensor, I have no idea why, only one is used. Either one. There is only one sensor on the engine. John

Re: 1957 Yblock intake manifold, rough idle

Check that the front valley cover bolt is not sticking up far enough to hit the manifold, preventing you from compressing the gasket. Usually when the bolt is not seated far enough, it results in...

Re: oil deflector for timing chain

Jim:

It does not bolt to the cam retainer. There is a separate tapped hole for it with another hole for the alignment tab to sit in. Ford eliminated the deflector in later years, your block...

Re: Gas sender

If grounding the wire makes the gauge read full, it is possible that the tank has lost its ground. Try clipping a jumper wire from the tank to a good body or frame ground and see if the gauge works....
