Here is what is know known as Flathead Caverns.. The sludge and grime is so thick--but it seemed to have protected the top end of the engine so far.. Looking forward to getting the oil pan and clutch...

So... Attempted to give the engine another go today.. no luck.. still sticking..
I dumped some Marvel Oil in the cylinders to let it sit again and see if it'll soak through during the next week.....

Attempted to rotate the engine--no luck..
removed the spark plugs--combustion chambers and valve faces looked clean..
..still wouldn't turn..
started pulling front end apart.....

Good news.. Now I just have to find a set.. I wasted a full tank of gas and approximately 6 hours of my life driving to pick up a set of wheels from a guy who swore the wheels off of his '48 Mercury...
