I know this is an old post, But wanted to bring it back up as would like to know
what is involved in doing this?
"Having the brake drum removed with out pulling the hub on the rear"?

As i recall from doing a 49 a few years back, Yes the push button handles from
a merc. were used on the woodie.

It looks like they did, after studying it last nite it looks like it was somewhat cocked
at the start of pressing on.

First off, i did a search and found several threads, But none said anything about my issue.

Have a rebuild kit from the Early Ford Store

Took the steering shaft to several machine shops...

I drove through it coming back from dallas back to the atlanta area, wasn't bad until going around birmingham,ala. on I 459 lots of rain and wind and cars and trucks crashing from
going too fast...
