Re: 1950 F1 door won't open...
A while ago my young son managed to lock both doors on my F1 by putting both inside door opening handles up in the lock position, then shutting both doors. After no luck getting in, I called the AA...

Re: 8BA Dip Stick Length and Oil Level
4.5 imperial quarts fills my F1 8BA (stock dipstick) after an oil filter cartridge change, which includes emptying the canister. 4.5 Imp quarts on the convertor = 5.4 US quarts.

Re: 1953 f-100 rear gears
My 49 F1 originally had a 4.27:1 Dana 41 which I changed to a Dana 44 3.78:1. I recently rebuilt the Dana 41 with 3.55:1 gears. Running 6:50 16 tyres and 265 flattie, this feels to me like the best...

3.54 differential and 6:50 16's in my 49 pickup with a 265 8BA and heavy duty 3-speed gearbox. Having previously had 4.27 and 3.78 differentials fitted, I've found the 3.54 the best combination of...

Re: 1950 Dana 44 Gear Ratio
I fitted a 1956 F100 Dana 44 into my 1949 F1 - no alterations needed. It has the 3.73 ratio (41/11) which I find a pretty good all-rounder with 6:50-16 tyres on the rear. I have my stock Dana 41...
