Re: Tight crank gear
Heat the gear with a oxy/acet or blow torch. Heat it quite but not enough to show any color on it. It should then slip on, at least part way, then gently pound it on all the way. I made a driver...

Re: Not A, But Interesting
Very interesting! Makes me wonder how Ford and Dodge/Plymouth made their tubular axles in the late 30's? Chrysler also made one but it was a 3-piece unit with riveted on ends.

Re: Sticking valves?
I definitely recommend IMO but also think your rings may be worn, because the compression is slow but fine with oil added. Do the MMO first.

Re: Winfield Model M updraft carb
The difference between the S and the SR is that the later has an accelerator pump, not needed IMO. Gasket sets are available. Price depends on size, condition and are they complete with air-horn or...

Re: Side Water Outlet
The diamond is a genuine Ford part but cast by an outside foundry. That mark can be found on many Ford parts.

Re: Winfield Model M updraft carb
They were only used on T's. They are better than the stock T carb, but IMO a bit small for the Model A. I've run a few Winfield model S on my warmed up Model A, and really like them.

Re: '31 pickup rear fender filler panels
If yours is a late '31, it has narrower fenders and no fill panel. Late 31's have the fuel shut-off on the front side of the firewall, a dropped steering support, not attached to the gas tank, and a...

Re: tell a Model A related story
I mow with a 601 Ford tractor and tow a brand X mower. Both are old and worn out, like me, but they still work. I used to maintain our road with the tractor and a 7' blade but a neighbor does most...

Re: Model A hubs on V8 Axle?
Yes they can but the only advantage is the spring mounting. You can just make a bolt-on bracket to accomplish this.

Re: Vacuum advance dist. for Model A
