'46 Convertible & Camshaft Questions

I am to the point where I want to assemble and adjust the top irons on a '46. Should I attempt to adjust them with the assist springs and top cylinders attached, or adjust the irons with them off,...

Gear Ratio Math

When I read about a 30% improvement with an over drive, what does that compute to for a 3.78 rear ratio? Is the final drive 70% * 3.78 (= 2.45) or am I not doing this right? Does the 1:1 become...

Zephyr Gears

I've seen a number of references to guys who put Zephyr gears in their early V8's. My question is, what does this do for them?

Thanks

Compression Impact on Temp

I've recently rebuilt a 59AB and put in a 4" crank. Compression after all was said and done is about 110 lbs on all cylinders (give or take ~5 lbs).
Engine runs great, but the temp is always about...

59AB in a '40

I'm putting a mildly built 59 AB (4" crank, dual 94's, dual exhaust) with 10" clutch into my '40. From the experience of guys who have done this, did you find that you still needed anti-chatter rods?...

Repro '40 Bumper Wing TIps

I recently went to get my '40 wing tips rechromed and the estimate I received was about $100 more than the cost of the repros advertised in the Mac's catalog. My question is, are the repro's good...

Re: 39 column to 525 box

Duff - the cars that I installed the 525 into had 350 SBC's installed so I don't know how the headers would fit.

Re: 39 column to 525 box

I've installed a 525 twice. Once in my 46 Ford, and once in a 47 Merc. I used a Borgeson (I think that's how it's spelled) U-Joint. A single U-Joint worked fine. It fit the star on the 525 and...

Re: Do i have an odd one? 59AB Part:II

Try Red's Header's. A couple of years ago, I almost bought .083 over pistons and rings from him, but my block wouldn't clean up at that, so I went bigger.

Re: Tacking Strp

Thanks for all the great input. Sounds like I'm into making a custom strip of some kind. I sort of thought I would have to bend the lip out, then back down again. Makes sense.
