Re: Wood engine dolly

Love it.:D
When I was a kid we used to "Borrow" these from the local A+P supermarket. For engine carts we cut off the basket part and used the tray on the bottom with the casters on them.
Ah, to be...

Re: Different shade of Washington Blue.

I am using the same color mix on my 41 Ford custom. It is almost Blue/black. My understanding is that Ford used Red oxide primer which would give it a darker shade. Perhaps the person that touched up...

Re: French headlights.

Yes changing a bulb is a bugger. Usually involves removing the front tire as the screws that hold in the bucket go in from the back side.
I believe that the point of "Frenching" the headlights was...

Re: Van Pelt true to form

Add my praises to the list. I just did a rebuild on a 1950 Ford f-1 floor shift 3 speed that I swapped in the 48 car side shift gears and rear bearing retainer to make it a torque tube trans ala...

Re: Painting my own car questions

Shot this engine last week and this firewall the other day. As you can see I cover everything. Over spray is like dry wall dust. No matter how well you protect it can creep in.
Gun was about 30-35...

Re: Painting my own car questions

Yep. Plus they can be slippery as hell when laid on the floor.
Been painting cars and varnishing wooden boats for 40 plus years now. (Can't believe it's been that long). Wet down the floor. And just...

Re: Striping question

For what it is worth. I have used and seen many a stripper and sign painter use Easy Off oven cleaner to take off stripes and lettering on cars. And leave the paint.
Remember that the paint on the...

Re: Flywheel and pressure plate question.

That Merc 10" clutch set up was common back then as well robert but you usually had to re drill the Olds flywheel for the 6 in a circle Merc bolt pattern.
The long style 3 sets of 2 bolt pattern on...

Flywheel and pressure plate question.

I know that the 48 Ford flatheads used the the long style pressure plates. I believe that Trucks used an 11" while cars used a 10"
My question is this. Is the pressure plate bolt spacing different...

Re: 1941 Car clutch pedal linkage question.

Got the linkage hooked up. I threaded in the rod and it now clears the pedal arm.
Will have to do some more adjustments but things are looking up.
Thanks as always.

Re: 1941 Car clutch pedal linkage question.

Re: 1941 Car clutch pedal linkage question.

Thanks for the pics. It it looks like the threaded rod on yours went on the inside of the pedal arm. Mine doesn't even come close to lining up that way.

Same pressure plate that was in there....

Re: Synchro trans for a 34 Ford?

You can put the later gears into the earlier case but I believe that some modifications need to be done for gear clearance issues. I would contact Mac Van Pelt. Has both the knowledge and the parts...
