Re: Jumping a 6 volt battery

The original question regards jumping a 6 volt battery with a 12 volt battery.

I have done that with my 1933 Chev. This was a negative ground system and when I connected the two together it was a...

Re: Oil

Changed my oil today. Used 20-50W that I had.

When I first had the Model A I used the recommendation in the owners manual (20W Winter / 40W summer).

The 20-50W seems better.

Re: 12 volt

The key reason for the starter to always turn in the same direction is that the field winding is in series with the stator. When the direction of current changes both the field and the stator changes...

Re: Ford verse Chevrolet

My first car was a 1933 Chev. master coupe.I raced my car against a Model A (on route 128 in Ma.) and won after going over 60 mph.

The 1933 Chev. was made well, had no rust and was solid. It also...

Re: Ignition timing question

I use the method in the owners manual so that handle up is 0 degrees and down is about 40 degrees advance.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil

I use the recommendations on the bottle. The side of the bottle has a handy level scale to help you pour in the correct amount.

Re: Battery Isolator switch

The battery should not be drained when not running. The disconnect switch can be a good safety device but the reason for the current drain should be found.

Re: 600w oil

Best to buy the correct product from the Model A suppliers. Mine came from Berts.

I would not want to mix up something and hope that its correct when the suppliers have the correct stuff.

Re: 12v wiring diagram

30AModel,

You need to check your diagram as the ammeter is not connected and the alternator connects directly to the battery.

Re: Ammeter hookup

rotowrench,

The amount of current in a wire is the factor that sets the needed size not the voltage.

Since power is equal to volts times amps, a 12 volt system can pass twice the amount of...

Re: Where Have All of The Chevrolets Gone?

I was driving on 128 in Massachusetts with my 1933 chev, when a Model A challenged me to see who had the highest speed. I passed the Model A when he max out at 60 mph.

Oh to be young again!

My first car was a 1933 Chev bought in 1967.

Never had axle problem and drove well.

Antique plates (I have) limit your driving time per...
