Re: Condenser Capacitiance.

MGC .. Hope this will help ... its part of a presentation I did for my grandaughters science class last Feb. It shows the charge and discharge paths for an ignition coil and how the currents flow.

Re: Best source 1932 Running Board covers?

I made a handfull,of "washers" out of 5/16 or 3/8 steel tubing ( I forget), about .1 thick to put along the ends and bottom to prevent the rubber from "squishing" out when the bolts were tightened.

Re: Fuel gauge intermittent

The power and current values associated with the sender units are too high to to use a small variable resistor to calibrate the unit. Power dissipation can be as high as 1.2 W and .3A respectively...

Re: school me about diodes

Still didn't work !!!! The last three words in each line correspond to the L,R and 3rd light states correspondingly . So for condition 5 for instance L should be off, R should be flashing and 3rd...

Jim ...
Yours is kinda like mine with the offset. Maybe that's just the way they were. I'll take a PIC and post. Back when I was a kid a piece of the jacketing broke off the choke cable and it was...

Re: Resistor voltage drop.

Phil ... I looked at your measurements and have a few questions and comments.

1- Engine off …..From your measurements of V bat=5.95 V, coil=3.12 and R resistor=.9 ohms then V resistor=...

Re: missing and low power

Don't forget the condensor ... I had this exact problem a few years ago . It turned out to be the condensor failing at high temperature. I bet a lot of good coils have been trashed when the real...

Re: Resistor voltage drop.

Hi Kevin ….
Me again. The point you make about excessive current when the engine is off and the points are closed is a good one for ignition systems that have ballast resistors with a positive...

Re: Resistor voltage drop.

Hi Kevin ...

Your right that the apparent current is lower when the engine is running, but not because the peak current is less (as defined by the battery voltage divided by the total circuit...

Re: Resistor voltage drop.

As I mentioned in post 5 there will always be an error in the measured voltages when making them on a running engine . This applies to measurements made with an ANALOG meter where the meter movement...

48 F1 transmission mount

Anyone out there have any experience with the LMC transmission mount (45-0330)? It's pretty inexpensive relative to others. Also does it include the molded rubber pad on the bottom?

Attached pic of my 48 F1 gauges with the POWER OFF. Note the temp gauge position is HOT. Once the ignition is turned on it goes to COLD, and increase as the engine warms up. If you want to check the...

Re: Resistor voltage drop.

Make sure not to make any voltage or current readings with the engine running as you will get false readings. This is because of the points opening and closing casing the volt/ammeter to read the...
