I got back to the Ford today. Had a freshly charged battery, got the fuel pump working, sprayed some gas in the new carb & it "hit" like it wanted to start. Reconnected the fuel line to carb, started...

No alcohol but we sure thought about it.
The starter worked fine and turned the engine in the correct rotation...was just when we were trying to roll-start it that it changed direction with...

Again, thanks everyone for the help. I am new to the old Fords and this one had been messed with pretty badly before I got into it.

Yes, this pattern. Had it in 2nd gear then a friend also did and repeated.
We thought it was a reverse issue but wasn't...none of us had ever seen this before. The rotation changed when the switch...
