Re: For Tom the Studebaker guy

I'm also a Studebaker guy. I saw this car on display at the Studebaker National Museum in
South Bend, IN. It's a beautiful restoration of a beautiful wagon. It took quite a few years to...

I' ve only used 10W30 detergent oil in my '30 Ford since I bought it in 2000. Of course the engine was rebuilt and very clean inside. The oil works as advertised.
I don't believe in...

Re: Booze Gas by State.

Although the map doesn't show it, New York does indeed have E10, at least downstate.

Smile Eureka!!!

Today, July 9, 2015, I received my July/August copy of the "Restorer" magazine. I was starting to worry about getting it. How has everyone else fared?

Re: Lubrication Chart

That's a great looking chart. Does anyone know if it's for sale anywhere? I have a lube chart on my garage wall, but not as nice as this one.

I'm jealous. I haven't received my copy as yet. Must be patient.

Re: Generator Brushes and Adjustment and How It Works

Not being a mechanic, I really appreciate the knowledge and wisdom that I find on this site. Thank you Tom for solving what has been a mystery to me regarding the generator.

Re: Air Maze, here we go again!

I have the metal screen Air Maze filter in my Model A. I can't discern any restriction of air into the carb with my Air Maze. The one I'd be concerned about is the paper filter. I can really see...

Re: Dome light in a 1930 CCPU?

The switch for the dome light in my '30 coupe is on the light frame itself.

Re: motor/gas tank additives

I routinely all Sta-bil to my gas tank after every fill up. I don't trust modern gasoline to remain stable while the car sits in the garage.

Re: Leaking Steering Box(s)

All I know is that at least once a season, I need to add 600W lube to my steering box. I have no idea where the stuff goes, but it needs a refill once in a while. I'm not really concerned about...

Re: Anti freeze

I use ethylene glycol 50/50 in both of my vintage cars for years and they're doing just fine.

Re: Single weight or multi grade oil

Since your Model A engine is rebuilt, by no means use non detergent oil. I use 10W-30 detergent oil in my "A" and it works beautifully. What brand you use is really up to you. They're all good. ...

Re: Order from Snyder's

No question about it. Snyders is really good to deal with. I started dealing with them many years ago when I owned a Model T.

Re: interior cost

Since I haven't had an upholstery job done in many years, I really can't judge this upholsterer's price. However, it does seem steep. If I were you, and I'm not, I'd look into buying a kit. ...

Re: Problem with replacement Tillotson carbs?

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, the Tillotson carbs were made of pot metal and didn't stand up well to long term usage.
The Zeniths are much better.

I guess all of us in the midwest and the northeast are in the same boat. I haven't had either of my antique cars out all winter. I do, however, have them both hooked up to Battery Tenders. ...

Re: Cutout switch: how to stop it from "welding" itself closed?

I also installed a Fun Projects voltage regulator, on my '30 Ford, a number of years ago and it had been working great. It looks just like the cutout and even has the Ford script on it.

Re: Model A ???

The engine isn't quite Model A-ish. Very clever though.
