Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi

I believe it was the best car-related show on the radio. I download their podcasts to my iPod and enjoy them whenever I am in the car on a trip. I have the iPod set to NOT DELETE so I have quite a...

Re: No oil pressure and pushing out coolant

If this is a basically stock "A" engine, you will seldom see any oil pressure after the engine get warm. I have a gauge on mine and before I installed the oil filter, the pressure was about 5 PSI or...

Re: Electric fuel shut-off valves, any good??

I've had one installed for a year or so and I'm very happy with it. No (more) leaks.

OLD Optima still going......

Visiting the family farm, a cousin told me to check out the battery in Uncle John's old '47 Model B John Deere. As was his habit, he scratched the install date in the side of his batteries. I was...

Re: Very slow tire leak

I had the EXACT problem with a tube I bought from someone other than Bratton's. I bought two of his tubes (so I'd have a spare) and NO MORE SLOW LEAK. As said above, buy Bratton's tubes and forget...

Re: Pertronix coil

I and many others have had the Pertronix Flamethrower coil fail in a 12V application on a Corvette. Perhaps it will be better in a 6V application but I for one will never use one of their coils...

Re: Column Support Tank Repair

I also cleaned VERY well and used JB weld and then installed the '31 bracket to take all the load off the tank.. No leaks, no weeps.

Re: electronic voltage regulators

I have a fun projects regulator and while it "works" it is low on output voltage (~6.9 volts). I contacted the manufacturer and he was less than "cordial" when I told him the problem. I have been...

Re: Acts fuel starved after 10 minutes

Pooch,

Obviously you're correct. Try a quart in 112.5 seconds. My pencil must not have had enough fluid in it.......

I'll correct the original post so someone else doesn't use the incorrect...

Re: Acts fuel starved after 10 minutes

I had a bad needle an seat in mine. I calculated that the worst case flow I needed was enough to support 5 MPG. I know it doesn't burn that much fuel but I wanted a safe margin so that's what I...

Oops... Didn't remember he was running a Tilly. I was referring to the main jet plug on a Zenith. I'm not familiar with a Tilly.

Re: Acts fuel starved after 10 minutes

Have you dropped the plug under the main jet and measured the fuel flow you are getting THROUGH the carb? That will quickly tell you how much fuel you are getting to the carb. A little math will...

Re: Has Anyone Put A Radio In There 6 Volt Car

If you do an fleabay search for "6 to 12 volt converter" you will find several 6 to 12 volt converters. For some reason, the one I used is now priced at $99.75 when I paid something like $4.99 for...

Re: Has Anyone Put A Radio In There 6 Volt Car

Yup, that old + and - stuff will get you! The ones I got weren't plug ins and I wired them directly into the circuit. Work great as long as you don't need more power than they will deliver. At 18...

Re: Loss of Power up Hill

I had a similar problem with my '29. Turned out to be a needle and seat that would not deliver enough fuel to support the engine at that load. You can pull the plug at the bottom of the carb and...

Re: Has Anyone Put A Radio In There 6 Volt Car

You can find a converter on fleabay that converts 6V to 12V for about $5.00. I bought one that was good for 18 watts.... that's 1.5 amps at 12 volts. If you are under that with your radio, you can...

Re: Are the current manufactured inner-tubes still bad ?

I had two tubes from "another" supplier and they both had slow leaks (in the same tire). I bought a new one from Brattons and haven't added any air since. It's been about three months. I LIKE...

Re: Stopping Corrosion on Battery Terminals

Never thought of anti seize on crimped connections but that sounds like a good idea.

Thanks!

Re: Stopping Corrosion on Battery Terminals

I'm sure you're right but I (and a lot of others) have been doing it for years in the deep cycle batteries that are used for house power in my motorhome. I have well over 100,000 miles on the...

Stopping Corrosion on Battery Terminals

I suspect this will start a controversy and that is definitely NOT my purpose. I post this because I KNOW it works from personal experience as well as the experience of many others that have done it...

NAPA will (probably) have a coil and I (and others I know) have had VERY good performance from their coils.

Re: Try again - oil pan installation

They came with a pan gasket I bought for a Chevy. If you have a good general mechanic near by, he might give you some.
