As has been noted, the panel board is damaged and the upholstery will never look right until the underlying board is either repaired or replaced. If you are dead set on keeping the original board...

I have used a variety of 2K/epoxy DTM primers over the years but I have found the Advantage 325 to be one of the best for adhesion and sandability...

Maybe I am showing my ignorance but why would you want to seal the edge of laminated glass? I am assuming that the edge to be sealed is exposed, would sealing edges that are fit into a rubber seal...

I like the painted script, I really adds a nice touch to the tailgate.
Here is one I did for a customer for his 55...he liked the script but he didn't take my advice to keep it small.

Since Drake was out of stock on this strut kit I looked elsewhere. I found them at Legens Hot Rod Shop for less $$. Legens say that they provide Drake with this strut kit.
