It appears that you have an original steel fan. Check it carefully for bent blades and proper fit on the water pump shaft. Also naturally for cracks.

Bob C has the answer. Magic marker on the shaft works too. Get the tapers to match before you crack the new fan or wallow out the fan taper.

the narrower slot was used until the end of 1930. the early levers were narrower than the later levers. The maximum advance was 20 distributor degrees and 40 crankshaft degrees.

Your car appears to be a '29 special coupe. There were two brown colors available for '29 coupes. Rose beige and Mountain brown. Go to (autocolorlibrary.com) to get an idea what these colors look...

I think you need a growler test of your armature. My generator had similar symptoms. The generator should motor at a much lower amperage. When I replaced my armature it motored at less than 5 amps.

Make sure the engine is not idling too fast. A fast idle will make it difficult to shift.

According to the V8 service bulletins Ford changed to a sealed throwout bearing starting in 1935, so if your bearing has been changed since 1935 it is probably a sealed bearing anyway.

those two piece timing gears do not last. Get rid of it now before you install the engine. I'm sure others have had similar bad experience with them as I have had.

Yes the idle speed screw is 8-32 but don't tap it all the way through. The screw should be tight to hold the adjustment.
