Do you have a ground strap between the engine and firewall? This is very important, and if not, will cause the problem you are having.

I would be going with the 18 rods. The 21A rods will fit but are heavier and will cause balance issues.

You can use coach bolts, shorten or re-thread as necessary. use valve springs and shorten them to suit. Hope this helps.

41 pick up temp sender

Can anyone tell me if a 41 pick up has 1 or 2 temp sending units? I recall reading once that they only had 1, but both heads are drilled-tapped for a unit. Thanks, Gordon.

I believe these were the originals used with the 'crab' type distributor. one plug lead from each side crossed over to the other, and the lead was covered with that rope- like material.

Make sure that the cam lobe is on the 'heel'. The valve beside the stuck one should also be open. Keep in mind also, that these valves bend very easily.

I have always found that when you get the idle real 'sweet', it will often hesitate when you give it some gas, so then I richen the idle mixture a little, and it seems to cure the problem. might work...

Sounds like might be the rotor....old originals do go bad, new repros are suspect. 4.3 at the coil is low enough, what is the generator charging? I don't know, but are Skips coils built to be 4.3...

exhaust manifold

Having a tidy up, and came across this unusual right hand side exhaust manifold. It appears to be a typical 37-39, but the outlet is 'angled'. Attached pics with a regular 37-39 for comparison....

Usually the door lock and the ignition lock share the same key. Take the door lock out and get a key to fit that....the code is stamped into the side of the barrel. Might be lucky.
