I have a 3ft crowbar that has worked for me. Prying between the frame and back of pitman arm. Also use a propane torch to heat up and break the rust bond.

Thanks. The first set of pics none of the factory spots held and the latch fell apart when removed The second set all the spots held too well and Ford did a bunch of them on both sides.

Those 4 speeds are heavy. I could not imagine trying to pull one out of the trans opening. Probably want to take the seat out if you try it. If your truck is all painted up would be another reason...

The 79-84 toyota box is a popular swap. Put one in my 52 panel and love it. I have a SBF in mine so you will have to fab some mounts for the pump on your flathead.
