Re: New Ahooga Horns from Suppliers

I very recently (DEC 2023) bought a 6V Sparton from Snyder's (https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/product.htm?pid=984161&cat=41718), Part #A-13802-R6.
The first one they sent was defective, but they...

Re: Electric Fuel Shut off

Absolutely happy - it's been around 4.5 years, and still working fine.
Having to open the hood to turn it on/off doesn't bother me - just made it part of the routine (along with the battery cutoff...

Re: Emergency Contacts

I keep a piece of paper labelled "I.C.E." in my wallet, with contact info (phone numbers) of who should be contacted. Hopefully never needed - but it's there just in case.

Re: Bratton's Tool Box

On the off-chance that someone is interested in one, and is near Grand Rapids, there is one for sale (local pickup only) on ebay for $250 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/155624005676).

Re: Push button starter

if it were me, I'd prefer to have a cutoff switch in the circuit (on the ground side)

Re: Dang, Grease on the Headliner

Folex works wonders, but from looking at that smear, I think I'd try the Folex after removing more of the stain first...if it were me, I'd try Dawn with very hot water and scrub a bit an old...

Re: How to secure Optima battery

Why not just use what the vendors sell?

Re: Starting After Sitting

Did you drain all the fuel out of the carb before leaving it parked (i.e. turn off the shutoff valve and let the engine run until it dies)?
A lot of gunk can develop if there was fuel in there that...

Re: Are you really a Model A guy?

Re: Added a 90-degree oil filter adapter today

Not to my knowledge; but then again - I just inherited whatever previous owners did; maybe someone who knows more than I do can chime in on what they see.

Re: Added a 90-degree oil filter adapter today

Re: Added a 90-degree oil filter adapter today

Re: Gas drip

When faced with the same issue, I used a 1/4-turn ball valve from Home Depot; been working great for a few years now. This replaced a previous solenoid-operated cutoff installed by a previous owner...

Re: Battery

Compared to the previous lead-acid, I've been very happy with the Optima that I switched to - no more acid out-gassing eating up the connections and surrounding metal, no more worries about checking...
