Re: Ultra Sonic Cleaner

I have used cartridge brass cleaner and water mixed about the same dilution as cleaning brass. I'm going to try Simple Green as it might be faster.

Re: radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

That looks like a good alternative @19Fordy. I need to get the cab in place so I can see what needs to move. I may get there by spring .

Re: radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

I have the sheilds and I'll use them when I get to final assembly. I have a lot of body work to go yet. I am using the chassis for a "run stand"and a place to store the the engine and transmission.

Re: radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

Thanks to everyone who commented. I should have looked at the fan closer before installing it. I probably needed to trim the hoses anyway. New hoses are on the way and I picked up antifreeze today...

Smile Re: radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

Let me catch up. I trimmed about 5/16 in. off the long end of the hoses ans re-installed the trimmed ends on the pumps as Kube suggested. I laid the fan face down on a flat surface and found some of...

Re: radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

Thanks, Kube. I installed the hoses with the long end on the pump to clear an aftermarket sway bar. I have almost an inch between the fan and radiator core; I am thinking about making a 1/4 in....

radiator fan 40/41 pickup ID

I just fired the 59A for the first time and it went pretty well except the crank mounted fan skinned the lower radiator hoses. This fan was on the engine in a '40 2dr sedan I bought so I assumed it...

Re: F100 brake conversion. use F100 hubs or 37-48 hubs

Thanks to everyone for their input. I want to pass this set on and since I didn't have F100 hubs, I didn't want to mislead with bad info. I have had these squirreled away since the 80's. I'm cleaning...

Re: F100 brake conversion. use F100 hubs or 37-48 hubs

How new F100 hubs will work? Can I move the shoulder for the inner bearing back by machining the spindle to use the 37-48 hubs?

F100 brake conversion. use F100 hubs or 37-48 hubs

I have pair of 54-56 F100 backing plates and drums and one hub. I think it is a 37-40 hub and the register diameter on the hub is 3.253; while the hole in the drum is about .100 in. smaller....

Re: 59 AB head gasket orientation

Solid copper for higher cylinder pressures, I think. I look at these as the best of both worlds.

Re: 59 block oil relief plunger install

On page 279 of Green book it shows 59A6600 A1 with the same relief spring in block relief as it does for the 59A-6600-A2 pump only the spring p/n is 8BA 6654.
This is why I think the helical gear...
