Re: Nice forty Ford

I've attached a photo of a properly restored heavy duty filter.
This type was described as to be used in extreme dusty conditions. I doubt many found their way on to a car. Still, they were...

Re: Nice forty Ford

No one can tell us with certainty what happened back in the various assembly plants.
That being said, it's possible the covers did get painted body color at some plant, at some moment in time....

Re: Nice forty Ford

That's the heavy-duty air cleaner. It was an accessory, factory authorized, concourse correct.

Re: Odd Frame Repair?

I could not agree more. NOS cross members are "out there" as well as good-used.

Re: Odd Frame Repair?

It was semi common through 1934. Quite odd on a '37.

Re: 1938 ford woody roof material

Re: 1938 ford woody roof material

I believe black is all you are likely to find. When I'd restored my wagon, I utilized the black and then painted it.

Re: Oil leak

Road draft tube?

Oh, by the way, be certain the breather at the front of the pan is "open". The correct pan gasket goes around this area.

Re: '41 PU Rear Window

One thing they didn't have were those stainless screws and cup washers through the carboard panels.

Re: Oil leak

I agree that the pan should come off sooner rather than later. This bad of a leak and the clutch will soon become contaminated and need replacing as well.

Re: Oil leak

It'll be interesting to find out the cause. Probably not so much fun to repair. My money remains on that pesky gasket I'd mentioned in a previous post.

High volume pump? I suppose that could be...

Re: Oil leak

Am I looking at this incorrectly? It appears to me the oil is coming out of the hole in the pan where the cotter pin should be. Yes?

Re: Oil leak

For that much oil to be getting there, methinks the cork gasket between the
"bell housing" and the oil pan proper has been installed incorrectly.

Re: Timing gear sheared 12 teeth

The repop fiber gears are prone to rapid failure. A very old NORS gear is fine. A New one? No way.
You are lucking you didn't trash the engine.
Getting out all the little pieces is very important...

Re: 1936 Exhaust manifold sealer

I'm guessing you are referring to the area between the manifold and the block, IE the gasket. Yes?

If so, there are special sealers for exhaust systems. Permatex silicone is NOT one of them.

Re: Verify 1934 Ford Accessories, Please

The jack is not correct for your application.

The body assembly is the same '39 through '41. The base is '41 only.

Re: 1939 pickup engine oil filter

I'm with Terry... remove the filter. The engine compartment will have a neater / cleaner appearance.

A filter was optional on this truck back in the day. However, the original filter appeared...

Re: 1940 Ford Drag Link Adjustment

The right end of the drag link was internally threaded to accept an adjustable tie rod end. A slit at this end of the tube allowed the threaded portion to be “crushed” upon the threads when the...

Re: 1940 Ford Drag Link Adjustment

as has been mentioned, the drag link adjusts the orientation of the steering wheel.
There is one adjustable end at the pitman arm. The drag link is rather straight.
The toe-in is adjusted via the...
