Re: Slow starter

I think a combination of things was the problem. Old battery that would not hold a charge. Jumper cables for 12Volt were used but they are thinner and won't carry the amps required for 6Volt. They...

About two years ago my 1930 Model A Tudor in fine shape with new inserted motor running nice went on the market for $12,500 and had over 2,000 inquiries but only one looker. Heavy on "LOOKER"... I...

1953 Ford Pickup - 6 cylinder fuel pump

Ok, so this is not a Flathead V8 but the 1953 Ford Pickup also came with a six cylinder motor. I know, it looks weird sitting where a V8 should be but hey, it is still a Ford even though it has some...

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

"have more in them than they are worth.." Hmmm.... seems to me that I have heard that before. Oh yeah, my wife said it. More than once!

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

Sold both for $2000 each, plus cleaning out her garage so she can use it again. Bodies were pretty good with little to no rust and interiors were there, engines questionable. Thanks for all the...

Re: 2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

Hmmmmm........ I think I just might switch to 5w-20 synthetic.
When I lived in Bemidji, Minnesota about 30 years ago it was -25º one morning and the gear oil was so thick that I bent the...

Re: 2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

Thanks for the info. And I just had a conversation with another local friend who had the same issues and just changed the oil, with the same results.
I would like to say that I am going out to...

Re: 2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

Reman 5.4 is around $2500, reman 4.6 is around $3200, diesel is off the wall, driving mine until it drops is $-0-..... so I think I will choose the last alternative. Then tow it home and then...

Re: 2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

Thanks for that info! I wonder if the 2-valve, fixed cam 2004 engine would just drop into my 2006 F150 to replace the 3-valve, cam phaser engine? That engine was used 2004-2006 F150 trucks, so...

Re: 2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

I don't know how long it will last but if I put Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas it helps a bit. I have been told by another owner that changing the oil more frequently helps. I had the spark plugs...

2004-2006 Ford 5.4 engine

Engine is starting to make valve noise and occasionally slips into what sounds like the old hit-and-miss engines. Probably the cam phaser mechanism. Will any other engines work to replace the...

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

Thanks Tim. Hey... $1000 here, $1000 there..... pretty soon we will be talking real money! Now all we need is a real buyer! :)

Thanks again for the reasonable estimates.

Re: the original mechanical brakes

Has anybody here tried using a power brake unit on early Ford cars with brake shoes, like this one?

Re: Info for ‘42 Super Deluxe Sedan

It was $1800 back in 2017. My friend pulled the heads before trying to start it and it had a mouse nest that he had to clean up before it was ready to drive around the farm.

OK, here are some photos of my '42 Fordor, which has been sold to a friend who had more room than I did.

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

Sounds familiar! I learned to drive on the gravel country roads in Minnesota in my Dad's 1936 Ford Fordor. Those gravel roads told you real quick if you were going too fast. I...

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

Thanks, Tim
That is about what I was thinking, but it has been over 50 years since I have seen them. They were in good condition back then and without junk piled on top. I will take another look...

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

So you are saying they are worth between $1000 and not quite $9999. That helps. Thanks :)

Re: 1939 Lincoln 4-door value

Well, I was sent a couple of photos. Not much to look at, in 50 years since I saw them they have become "storage units". I will try to take better ones when I get up there.

Re: Info for ‘42 Super Deluxe Sedan

l bought one at auction on a very low bid, (the only bid) and was able to talk to the son of the original owner. I think he said there were only around 20,000 of them made and most went to the US...

Re: what piece of machinery does this fit?

I also have an old one that I use in places that you just can't get to with a straight drill, like between studs. When you need it, you will be glad you have it.
