Re: Buying an out of state car on the internet

Dave. Just be patient and keep looking locally. There are many, many cars within a 3 hours drive of you , just sitting in garages, as their current owners have become too old to use them or have...

Help needed today in Woodstock, Connecticut. Friday 9-22

We are on Tour from Mystic Seaport and one of the A's in the group has lost his timing gear. If anyone nearby has a cam nut socket and a puller, we'd be back in business.

Re: Available 6 volt bull horn kit?

I'm wondering the same thing. I picked up a bull horn at an estate sale last weekend and am wanting to convert the guts to 6 volt. Haven't opened it up yet, but I'm thinking that I can put the...

Re: Running rough

Take a look a your plugs. If they are sooty black, she's running rich and it could be due to the float level being set too high or other carb adjustments. If the plugs are clean, she might be too...

Re: Gearing for 16 inch wheels

My 29 had 16's on it when I bought it also. I ran it that way for 5 years and was always considering doing a gearing change to make things better. She was wound up pretty tight to run along at 45...

I have 6 volt LEDs on the rear of my car and regular incadesent bulb signals on the front. I did manage to find an electronic 6 volt flasher from the Volkswagon parts people. However, it wouldn't...

Re: First 4 banger, a 29 roadster having problems.

It seems the backfire has been elevated to something big here. It's not. The blue smoke is. Backfire is a matter of external tuning and mal-adjustment, related to timing and carb adjustment......

Re: First 4 banger, a 29 roadster having problems.

Re: R & R Steering column

I agree with the 2 hours. I just did mine to rebuild it and it was necessary to remove the pedals and starter. It comes into the cabin and out the door. Not easy... But not terrible either.

Re: Model A Tires

The Plastic Bag Method...I had seen this on You Tube a while ago and took it one better. What a breeze to mount new tires. Go out to a dollar store and buy a box of 55 gallon trash bags, thin mil,...

Re: Roof coating

Well, I applied the Flex Seal last night and am very pleased with the results. I masked the area off well and covered the rest of the car with bed sheets. Two cans did it, although only one coat. ...

Re: Update on ring clearances

Be sure to look at the piston wrist pins. One of my Model T engines locked up due to the wrist pin seizing within the piston. This was a newly rebuilt motor with about 1500 miles on it. We pulled...

Re: Schebler carb float setting?

The car has been sitting for fifty odd years, inside and I did just get it running. I had a heck of a time getting the carb apart to clean it and I'm sure I bent the float arm a bit in the process.
