Re: Can anyone identify this radiator?

I don't think it is a 37 V8 60 truck radiator.
I restored a 37 Ford 85 HP pickup in the early 1960's. I was sold a NOS radiator that had wider side mounting fins and the fill neck was spaced forward...

Re: Bumper Hitch / Mullins

I would be more concerned about the '38 V8 60 having enough power to pull the car with passengers and trailer.
My father had a '38 Ford V8 60 in 1947. My father described the Ford as not having...

Re: 1939 radiator overflow tank?

Many people overlook the fact that the average radiator prior to '40-41 does not have a seat in the neck for a pressure cap to work, ergo, a pressure cap is useless.
All of my pre '40 vehicles have...

Re: Cadillac 331 in a Ford

Ditto on the starter relocation... Cad engines in Fords was a very common application during the mid '50's..

Re: Water in gas

Took a quick look through my pix files, found a pix of a Super Easy Siphon Hose.

Re: Water in gas

Water in fuel, gasoline and/or diesel use to be a big problem until the EPA made the services stations replace their old leaky tanks that allowed ground water and condensation to seap into the...

Re: 49-51 wagon hitch

My suggestion would be to go to a local RV trailer hitch dealer an have them fabricate a receiver frame mounted hitch for you car.. If you look close at the pix that 'petehoovie' posted, the bumper...

Thumbs down Re: 1936 ANTENNA-PLEASE HELP! Where can I find radio antenna for 1936Ford series 68 c

As I recall the Delux 35-36 Fords closed cars were wired at the factory for radio's.
My 36 is a Delux with factory radio, the antenna is hooked to the chicken wire in the roof, It also has a lead...

Re: Towing Capacity?

I would suggest doing what many people have done to haul a vintage cat around. Put the body on a late model F 450-550 chassis, in the long run it would be cheaper and safer than trying to patch...

Re: 160 or 180 degree thermostats?

Old habits and the myth's that support them seem to have an after life that will not go away.
I took Auto Mechanic' during the four years I was in high school, I wanted to be a mechanic. After high...

Re: NP435 to flathead?

You did not list the year of your truck. If it is pre 42 it will have a torque tube driveline and transverse springs all of which makes it near impossible to bolt an OD trans into a 36-41 vehicle.

Re: Hinge Pin Mirrors

More on VW mirrors on a EFV8.. I was at a EFV8 Regional sanctioned meet in the very early '60's, one of the cars at the meet was a very nice 36 3 win cpe. The car had very nice hing pin mirrors on...

Re: Hinge Pin Mirrors

I have never been very fond of the Ford type of hinge pin mirrors, I found a neat trick over 40 years ago to use Volks Wagon door pin mirrors on the '30 model Fords. I have a set on my '36 that has...

Re: Rear End Gear Ratio--39 Ford

The tires on my '36 coupe are 600x16 which are a 28" tire, approximately the same size as a 235/75R 15.

Re: Rear panhard bar stud

I would assume you are referring to a '46-48 rear end because vehicles earlier than 46 did not have panhard bars.

Re: Rear End Gear Ratio--39 Ford

The 4.44 ratio behind an 8BA engine would be OK for 1/4 mile drag racing, a 3.78 would be better for every day driving..
My 36 coupe has 3.78 with a Columbia, 59 AB engine that has been modified to...

Re: Hijacking a thread

Well put Allan.. Some people get their knickers all bunched up when thins don't go according to their way of thinking. From my point of view, if Ford made it, and it fits a later or earlier model,...

Re: 37-39 truck rear window interchangeability

I restored a '37 Ford pickup in the mid '60's... The '37 trucks are like the '37 cars, kinda in a world of their own, other than the windshield I think there is very little in the way of body parts...

The term "widow maker" is a term that has been battered around for many many years, a myth, probably started because it made good press.
I can speak with some degree of authority because I owned and...

The wheels shown in #1 of this topic are the Firestone type which were in common use until late '70's on light/medium duty trucks. This type of wheel is not the infamous 'widow maker'
The two piece...

Re: Blocking Hear Riser

During the early to mid 1950's, blocking the hear risers on a flat head Ford was a common event if you wanted two rattle the neighbors windows and have the law after you.
I don't know where the...
