Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

Yes, the tab on the switch is in the notch where it's supposed to be. No washer. Both switches are outwardly identical. One is the original. Parents bought the car new. One came out of a '55 that my...

Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

Still no progress. I tried another factory Ford switch that I had on hand. Here's the kicker. I have two knob/shaft assemblies. The knobs are identical, both came from '55 Ford cars. The shafts...

Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

It's driving me nuts. If I take the switch out, the knob/shaft will catch and release like it should but won't catch when installed in the dash.

Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

I have. It won't go all the way in if I don't hold the release button down. If I hold it down and push it in, then release it, it doesn't catch and pulls all the way out just like it would if I...

'55 Ford car headlight swtich

Trivial thing that's driving me nuts. I stripped my '55 Ford dash bare to paint it, got everything assembled and back in it with no problems--except the headlight switch, I know the little button...

Re: '38 Pickup Hood Hinges

'38 and '39 truck hinges are different but interchangeable. '39 has a better design for attaching the side panels at the cowl to keep them from rattling. I think I still have a pair of '38 hinges...

Re: Need help ftting rear glass? 39 truck

The interior trim piece is the same '35-'39. Drake and other suppliers sell the rubber channel by the foot. Cut it to fit, rubber cement on the ends with the seam at the top. Tightening the screws...

Re: 1956 Fairlane on Assembly Line

Wondering which assembly plant this is? My father worked at the Atlanta plant '52-'82. Note the family standing at left watching the assembly of their car.

Re: '55-56 Throttle arm

The one that Patrick posted is the right one. I broke the bracket that bolts to the top of the block behind the intake.

'55-56 Throttle arm

I wasn't paying attention I pulled the 272 out of my '55--forgot to unbolt it where the bracket bolts to the back of the block and broke the bracket. Does anybody have a decent on a parts car? I...

Re: 1941 Ford Pickup Cab Spacers

They were a very hard wood, I think maple. I got new ones from Bob Drake for my '38 pickup.

'37-'38 windshield regulator

Good used windshield regulator, fits '37 and '38 cars and trucks, good gears, no broken teeth. This is the mechanism that opens and closes the windshield.

Re: Are "$ Doors Classics"

People who don't like 4 door cars make them more affordable for those of us who do. My '55 Fairlane is a Town Sedan my parents bought new. When I get behind the wheel, I have the same steering...

Re: The dang thing is out

Kind of obvious that the engine and transmission (with starter already attached) was bolted in the chassis as a unit before the body was lowered onto the frame. Henry wasn't considering that...

Re: New to the Crew

Good looking '62. For some reason you don't see many '61 and '62 big Fords--lots more of the '63s and '64s. My father worked at the Atlanta assembly plant when they were building them. Worth...

Radiator for '38-'39 60 HP pickup (Model 82C)

Good used radiator from '38-'39 60 HP pickup. Since it's a big bulky item, I'd rather it be local pickup instead of shipping.

Re: Engine size

The first character of the serial number tells you what engine it had from the factory. 7 indicates '57 model year. N indicates Norfolk VA assembly plant. G tells you it's a Custom 300. Now,...

Re: What engine is in my 57 Country Sedan

Are there any casting numbers on the dog to determine if he is the correct one for the car?

Re: Cranking probs on a 272

WalMart sells some stuff in a non-aerosol spray bottle that will prevent corrosion on battery terminals. It comes with the felt washers that go around the battery posts under the cable ends.
