Re: Ford methods & the Ford shops

I have an original and the picture quality is crystal clear. That is the drawback on all the reprints.

Re: model t transmission

I have seen one transmission that was assembled not in time. It ran for a while, but not too long and it sounded like a coffee grinder. When he disassembled it, the teeth on driven gear looked like...

Re: 23 t touring buzz coils

Well, I guess I better retire then. I am 39 years old and can't tune them by ear, must be too old.

As a matter of fact I have tried the tuning by the ear method and when the different coils...

Re: 23 t touring buzz coils

You can rebuild them yourself or have them redone. If you rebuild yourself, you will need a proper way to adjust them. You cannot do it by ear or with a buzz box coil tester. You will need to have...

Re: differential question

One is rarely enough and two is generally too many, so one plus a shaved down one would be correct.

Re: Setting Coils

I have all three, an HCCT, a strobo, and an ECCT. The HCCT works well, but is cumbersome to move about, it is mainly for show. I used a strobo for years, but know it is in the shop and used to just...

Re: pedals question

Looks about right, except you cannot use removeable bands in an aluminum hogshead. Some have ground on the head and the band to make it work, but how much do you want to weaken those parts?

Re: 1.when to replace band linings2. thanks 4 all help

Reverse and brake pedals come out of the hogshead once the nut, washer, and spring are removed. Don't drop them into the black abyss. The low pedal cannot be removed without removing the pins.

Re: Vaporizer overhaul...

To remove the vaporizer and replace with the NH you need a new exhaust and intake manifold. You will need different throttle and choke/air mixture rods as well. If your car is a factory original...

Re: freeze plug replacement on 1924

Clean it up with a wire wheel or wire brush until it is shiny. Some guys use epoxy and then seat them in, others just seat in the plug.

Re: Thinking of buying a Model T

Ford never made a factory speedster. There were aftermarket speedster body builders or they were just homemade.

Re: Water in the oil question

That sucks. To repair it properly, the block needs to be heated up to weld it. During the heating process the babbitt melts out of the main bearings, so this would include at least repouring the...

Re: new barn find

Yes, those are wood spoked 21" wheels. Wire wheels and hubs would have been an extra.

Re: new barn find

It looks like a 26/27 Fordor by the fenders or what I can see of them. I bought one in similar shape, but it ran and I drove it home. I paid 2500, plus the guy was a stump grinder and I negotiated...

That is Dean Yoder from Iowa I would guess. I believe he is doing a national park to national park tour. You can find something on Facebook I think.

Re: T tank ?

All gas tanks on 26-27 are the same except the fordor and Ton Truck, they were still of the oval design mounted under the seat.

I believe they held 8 gallons.
