Batt. cables corrosion

I'm trying to find a reason for corrosion at pos.cable batt. end & also at voltage reg. I've heard many silly answers but no real cause or fix, does anyone know for sure ? Thanks IVT1

Quickest,cheapest & safeist is the old school way as Bill says the rope trick, for u unenformed guys that's removing the spark plugs & fill the cyl. with a small rope like small eng. starter cord hit...
