Re: Front Leaf Spring
Got this last month for my phaeton and was literally sworn to secrecy regarding where.

Model T lamps and other parts at Luray
I normally do Model A stuff, but I'm helping to disperse an estate containing some Model T parts: head lamps, side lamps, tail lamps, steering wheels, tools, tire pumps, and more. Here are a few of...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
An interesting sidenote is that the cars themselves have not appreciated in value once you account for inflation. I was just looking through an obscure hobbyist magazine from 1984 (A Model News,...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
The most straightforward explanation for this is declining employment in trades where someone would learn how to do that work. The peak of US manufacturing employment was 1979. Between 1979 and 2010,...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
I think there's a point at which the collection becomes so large that it's actually more likely to be junked. Whoever is saddled with it has to either scrap it or dedicate some huge number of hours...

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio
Just for clarification, the gear sets sold currently are 3.25:1, not 3.27:1. I believe it's due to a change in the tooth numbering. The old sets were 36:11 and the new sets are 39:12.
The current...

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio
I think the Burtz head and cam would be solid recommendations. Carbs are much more about your personal taste. If you want to keep the original profile, converting to a Model B carb and intake is a...

Re: Exhaust manifold intake bolts broke
Always worth repeating that most original exhaust manifolds, including every swap meet manifold I've ever seen and possibly your current manifold, exhibit the characteristic droop on the cylinder 4...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
We're liquidating Doug Black's collection, and a fellow club member came to buy spare transmission gears (a high-value item!), and I said if he was going to buy more than one of something he had to...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
A good way to speed up the decline of the hobby is to "buy everything you need or might need" and wind up with a warehouse full of good parts when you die. Where are all the hoped-for young people...

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio
I don’t have Brent’s extensive experience but my research aligns with his advice here. An engine with the three core upgrades (head, carb, cam) will run 3.25:1 no problem.

Re: Motor Mount/Yolk
Are the springs connected to each other? I wonder if this is the common aftermarket “beehive” spring setup. I believe those had hard rubber dowels under each spring.

Re: engine compression levels.
Here’s an example of a device that could be used to do contribution testing.

Re: engine compression levels.
Isn't a contribution test used to isolate a single bad cylinder? It wouldn't really tell you if all the cylinders were equally worn.
