I would personally favor the Optima solution. They are easy to handle and offer other advantages. Don't be put off by the price, they usually last 12-13 years.

It should be pretty simple. Just find the resistance of your coil in (ohms) as well as the resistance of the actual resistor. Add them together and run them through a version of the formula I posted...

If that bent your mounting plate, I'll bet it is one of those super heavy blocks Ford made specifically for Ski-Tow use. I have heard the walls are so thick that they'll take a 4 inch bore!:D

After struggling with this for a long time, I think I have it finally figured out. You don't want to run more than 4 AMPS through the points to avoid burning them prematurely. A practical application...

While the later bolt-on gears '39-'48 and '49-'53 are available on the aftermarket, the earlier "press-on" aluminum gears seem to be made of "unobtanium". Is it possible to use a later ('39-'48) cam?

I don't buy into this program at all. Racing manifolds already have no carburetor heat passages; street manifolds do. If you're an all out racer, your manifold will take care of any fuel heating...

I am just a bit confused. Why would you need those adapters on a '36? (I am assuming you mean a Ford.)

One thing to keep in mind. I seem to remember that these use 5/8" studs on the wide five pattern. I checked the Speedway listing and it says they require their 1" bolts. From my days of racing...

Nah, it was different. As I remember it, the guy was casting and machining specialized aluminum wide five hubs.

I believe he quit because of high cost and low demand. (I'm an expert on that after...

I seem to remember that someone on the H.A.M.B. was making special wide-5 hubs for just this purpose. I did a quick look-see and couldn't find it. Maybe someone else here has a better memory.
