Re: Aries Stainless Steel Muffler

I put an Aries stainless muffler on my 30 pickup about 18 years ago.It has been used for around 26,000 miles since then.I've never had a problem with the original type clamp on it.I bought the...

Re: Sealed beams

I think people are not aware of how the new LED's work. The focus is in the bulb,or globe. They do NOT get focused like an incandescent bulb. With incandescent bulbs the light particles bounce off the...

Re: Sealed beams

With sealed beams you have to go with the old kit that replaces the lenses, and you get the bug eyed look,or the behind the lens conversion. That one has an aluminum ring that holds the sealed beam...

Re: "Special" Intake Manifold?

Wasn't there a manifold cast with a boss for a vacuum tap for a clutch assist? I know it was something that never came about though.I can't remember where I read it.Seems I read about it when I had...

Re: What keeps seat cushion in place? 31 PU

The cushion was held in place by two metal loops that hang down it the front. They just slide down behind the front of the seat riser and keep it from sliding ahead. The backrest had some pointed clips...

Re: Blue dot headlight reflectors

I was wondering how the reflectors would have blue dots in them. Those are visors, not reflectors. The reflectors are the bowl shaped things that hold the headlight bulbs.

Re: Radiator 1928 model A / AS questions

If the cap was left off the radiator the blockage in there will be the least of the problems. The upper inlet of the block is a highway for mice to get in and set up condos in the block. You can't just...

Re: Model A Marine Engine?

I know of a workboat with the Model A engine mounted nearly in the middle. It was never meant to power around in the open water. It had two transmission control levers, one fore and one aft.It also...

Re: Serial Number and Year of production

That's what I had.It was not a popular choice for fast car guys around here back then. Most people that went to the Rambler garage weren't looking to buy something like that. When my uncle bought it he...

Re: Serial Number and Year of production

I had an SC Rambler that was titled as a 1971,although it was a 69.My uncle and my dad were painting the inside of the Rambler dealership, and they had the SC on the showroom floor. It had been there...

Re: 354 Ring an Pinion

I don't care that much about the speed,I just like to keep the RPM's down.I did buy two sets of 3.27's a few years ago when the rumor went around that they were going to get scarce.I've never used...

Re: 354 Ring an Pinion

I have a 31 coupe with a Mitchell OD and 3.54 gears.I know nothing about the engine, the car was off the road for over 20 years before I got it and put the OD in it.I only found it had the high gears...

Re: My new Ford.

Yes,and the Dodge brothers years long story was a much easier one to research back in the 70's because it was documented in many places, through the courts, the media, and thousands of depositions from...

Re: Narrow bed or wide bed

The easiest way for me to tell the TT an AA express beds apart are the fender mounts. The AA fenders bolted to the bed sides, and the TT beds had brackets that came up from the frame. No bed side mounts...

Re: My new Ford.

Ford didn't actually double the wages across the board. The workers got $2.34 per day, plus $2.66 in profit sharing IF they met his criteria. You had to work there for 3 months,22 years of age,(with...

Re: Cheap Gas

Re: Cheap Gas

I bought a new 350 Honda and in the summer of 73 American high test was 31 cents.I was hard pressed to get a dollars worth into the tank.Winter of 73-74 we had the Arab oil embargo, and I worked at...

I don't know what that bed is in the picture. It is not A,andand I believe it is not T.I could be wrong about that, but I've never seen a T bed with the stake pockets like that. The front stake pockets...

Re: Narrow bed or wide bed

Wide bed was June of 31,and the steel top was August of 31.There are soft top wide bed trucks around. If you had a steel top narrow bed it means somebody put it on there. There is a late 31 steel top...

Re: Why is there a need for an Adjustable Drag Link?

The splines on the original F 1 do not come into play on the A conversion. They are machined off to make the sector shaft square to use the A pitman arm.Only one mounting option at that point.

Re: Finding a nice Model A

After all the talk about the T's all being black, when the A came out it was not available in black at first. It was not listed as a color for the A until 1930.I've had two 31 coupes, and a 31 tudor...

Re: Why is there a need for an Adjustable Drag Link?

I think what Brent is getting at is that the F 1 steering box sector shaft is not square as the A is,and starts out round. It is then machined to the square shape for the A.It can be machined off...
