Re: Need best way to remove diff. pinion shaft assembly

I ended up buying a shop press and used a 4X4 piece of box steel to push down and a turned piece of round stock under the pilot bearing to et the pinion shaft out. I'm getting ready to put the rear...

Re: Need best way to remove diff. pinion shaft assembly

I've copied the pictures of Kens tool and will try that. My puller just keeps sheering the pinion shaft coupler pins. I think if I could attach to the threads on the shaft and clamp it there similar...

Need best way to remove diff. pinion shaft assembly

I'm overhauling the rear axle in my 37 ford Pick Up and installing new 3.78 ring and pinion gear. I have all new bearings and seals to go in. How the heck do you get the pinion shaft/thrust bearings...

Re: Help with 1937-40 rear axle rebuild

Also, I currently have a 6 spline input shaft. I have been looking at the Speedway catalog and they have new 3:55 ring and pinion gear sets that they advertise to fit this rear axle. I was also going...

Re: Help with 1937-40 rear axle rebuild

I'm getting ready to overhaul the rear axle in the 37 Pickup I got from my father. A little background on this. He had a 5 speed T-5 transmission put in it and an open driveshaft conversion before I...

Re: 1937 ford flathead won’t rev up

Sounds like the power valve in the carb is plugged. Rebuild kits come with new ones. I had the same issue with a friend's 49. Bought the rebuild kit and put the new power valve in and problem solved....

Re: 53 starter motor question

I'm not sure what you mean by "starter plate". The motor bolts to the bell housing. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend. Iy could be that the bell housing isn't stock since the truck has a T-5...

Help identifying points

I'm new to flat heads as stated in an earlier thread. I believe this is an 8BA engine in my 37 pickup. The points got overheated by the shipper when he left the ignition on and ran the battery down....

Re: Need help-New to flatheads

The transmission work was done by someone up in Maine, not my dad. He had the original transmission taken out and had someone put in the S-10 transmission and open drive shaft. The truck and I are in...
