Rob I don’t think you can remove the backing plate over the stuck bearing, I think the inner hole is smaller than the bearing outer diameter.

A quick google search shows brand new sockets 21/32 , in 6 point or 12 point for less than 5 dollars ! I believe I have one from my original 1970 tools that was needed on DC-9 landing gear

Modern yuck ! Rebuild it back to original with a burn proof condenser and with some simple maintenance 10’s of thousands of happy motoring ! IMHO
