Prestolite B Tank
Hi all,
I've been away a while, sorry about that.......
I'm about to swap an Acetylene B tank for my torch and wanted to see if anyone would want this tank. I'd need whatever it costs to buy...

Re: Really really old Acetylene tank?
I suppose the Native Americans may have used it, but it's history is far larger than that.

The swastika (as a character 卐 or 卍) is an ancient...

Re: Really really old Acetylene tank?
Wow!
So I won't have any problems if I try to swap this tank with AirGas?
That was a huge concern of mine.
I'd love to see some pictures of some original acetylene lights in use.

Re: Really really old Acetylene tank?
Not sure, I see a few numbers there.
Like 32-11.
What I'm confused by is I've heard many claim you can't get these tanks refilled etc.
How, and why did Tractor Supply have a nice blue...

Really really old Acetylene tank?
Hey guys,
I just swapped my B tank out for a full one at Tractor Supply and look what they gave me.
Is this as old as I think it is?
The valve is offset, there's two plugs in the bottom of...

Re: Henry's Boat
Two silly questions.
Why do the Liberty engines not have valve covers!? This is a 1930s engine no? What lubricates the valve stems?
Second, why do most if not all boat engines exhaust the...

Re: Henry's Boat
I am truly amazed....

Someone actually made better (stronger?) engines than the Duesy straight 8 in the 1920s-1930s. I had no idea.

Re: Removal of flux
We use Quickbraid all the time here, it's a normal consumer product.
However, I highly doubt rosin soldering braid will do anything to a silver soldered product. You silver solder at 1400+F not...

His mistress?
Sounds like a real great man............
Combine that with the "Ford service department" and I'd rather just forget he had anything to do with the "A".
The more I learn about him...

Re: Double Clutch Upshift
I've known many truck drivers that drive their rigs like this as well. I've also seen guys operate a synchronized like this.
I have a word for it, it's called abuse. There is no way you could be...

Re: Double Clutch Upshift
I'm confused how anyone can upshift without double clutching?
You've got the input shaft / assembly spinning at 2500-3000rpm and you want the gears to suddenly match when the input should be going...

Re: Grinding valve stem to increase lash?
Looks like my 12 thousandths feeler is actually 12.5. Close enough? :D It's hard to see in the picture but it was pretty much centered between 12 and 13. I made sure everything was clean and used...

Re: Grinding valve stem to increase lash?
Yep.
Only annoying part is they aren't very specific at what it should be.
The manual says 8 thousandths and below that is 12 thousandths. Not sure if that's a range, or if one is intake and one...
