Re: 1941 1/2 ton pickup

No such thing. Brassworks and Johnson make nice radiators, but they are expensive. Aluminum radiators are cheap but not nice.

Re: Valve springs snug on guides

The guide necks down surely before the second wind of the spring, so I doubt anything is really rubbing much. The first wind should be firm against the seat at all times.

Re: Hot rod steering box

I have an F-1 box in my Tudor and my arms rest perfectly on the wheel. Not chopped, and has stock seats. Your seat might be lower and farther back.

Re: Hot rod steering box

The gaskets are also shims, so read up on proper assembly and clearancing.

Re: King pins and steering

Or cracked. If you don’t have the support rings when mounting early Ford wires on hydraulic brakes, it will commonly crack the mounting face of the wheel. Look around the lug holes of the wheel.

Re: Michelin wire wheels

Looks like the edge of the mounting surface inboard of the stud hole is indented to fit the nub on a Ford drum. I also agree they look to have been made for pre-36 Fords.

Re: Early Ford Cutaway Chassis YouTube Videos Global Rollcall and More Info

I saw the 40 cutaway chassis in the 90’s in the back room of the Iowa State University industrial arts building. My brother had classes in the building. A couple years later we saw it on display at...

Re: Voltage regulator, generator wiring (12 volt)

I’m no expert on wiring, so I just bought a 1960 Ford regulator (three tabs) and wired it as if it was in a ‘60 Ford pickup. The ground wire from the generator is ran all the way to the mounting...

Re: 1947 Rear Axle Worn Down

You might be lucky and just need one axle and hub. Probably the outer bearing. Surely a gasket/shim set. And if you are unlucky, more bearings and maybe a housing on that side.

Re: 32 b frame for v8

Wasn’t there some early production that didn’t have chatter rod mount holes for the V8?

Re: Door weatherstripping 40 coupe

Only thing sealing the rear edge is the upholstery welting.

Re: 40 rear drum on a 32 rear axel?

Reversed eye springs front and back, and a dropped axle up front would take care of some tire gap.

Re: Pate Swap Meet Flathead Speed Equipment

My product was a dash panel that he bought and then cast his own copies from. None of these flathead parts. But, maybe I should just find some of these flatty parts and cast my own from them? ...

Re: 40 rear drum on a 32 rear axel?

I can’t understand why they would work on the front but not the rear. They’ve been used on the back of old Fords since new.

Re: 40 rear drum on a 32 rear axel?

The Jumbos don’t like the little nubs inside the studs? I thought General Jumbos were made especially for ‘35 and older Fords?

Re: Pate Swap Meet Flathead Speed Equipment

That OP (Terry Webster) was a thieving bastard (he copied my product and sold it as his own). But now he’s dead.

Re: Anybody use "Ezsteer" P/S conversion from Ebay?

If that’s the same company I’d steer clear of them. If it’s just some new guy who picked that name out of a hat, boy he chose poorly. I’d still find another route.

Re: Narrow V8 Rear Axle

He has about a dozen threads spread over the Fordbarn and the HAMB asking how to solve this “problem”, but refuses to post a pic to show how bad it really is. I can’t fathom how guys have been...

Re: Narrow V8 Rear Axle

Are you aware you can’t fit old Ford wires to modern brakes without a thick adapter? The wheel has an outer mounting flange that hits the drum of a modern brake. That’s why we use the 40-48 year...

Chaplin, you’d need to switch the backing plates to the proper year as the shoes.

Re: 1932 Ford Three Window Body Tag

There was a thread with a “registry” of 32 3-windows body numbers. I can’t remember if it was here or on the HAMB. Had a surprising number of bodies submitted.

Re: Leaking Head Studs

Many references to guys retapping the stud holes to “clean” them when rebuilding engines. But the holes are built with a tighter tolerance than the taps used, and are as such opened up too much. A...

Re: Waterpumps with smooth pulleys

Don’t confuse the 59A stuff with the 8BA stuff (you say “up to 50”). Big changes in 1949, and more variety of pulley, castings, and belts.
