Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
No spacers used at all. I took the same amount off both sides.
EDIT: Your question about the spacer gave me pause to think about my answer. I went to the shop to look, and indeed there is a space...

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
I'm not familiar with all the different alternators, but I had to cut part of the mounting ears off the alternator to get the belt to line up with the F1 water pumps.

Re: Borg Warner overdrive question
There is no power to the governor. It is a grounding switch for the relay. There is constant power to the relay when the ignition switch is on. When the relay is grounded by the governor, power is...

Re: 1955 Ford Customline Overdrive G/box
If you are asking if the OD unit can be mounted on a standard 3-speed transmission, NO, the cases are different. That being said, I've heard of them being modified but they aren't the same.

Re: '50 gear ratio
The "standard" rear gear ratio for overdrive in the V8 was 4.11. I don't remember seeing any other offerings for hilly, flat, station wagon, police, etc, although there could have been some. In the...

Re: Brake pedal travels too far
I agree with cadillac. It takes all the fluid from the first pump to push the shoes against the drum because the mis-adjustment requires the cylinder to extend more. The second pump restores the...

Re: T5 5 speed to 1935 Ford Pickup speedometer
If the speedometer head in the truck hasn't been observed working correctly previously, I would't rule out a worn/defective speedometer. I've seen them jump wildly from zero to 60 mph. Registering...

Re: 1937 Halogen headlight conversion
My '38 came to me with the Drake halogen conversion (12V). Although not as bright as LED, they match the prism in the lenses and work fine for my limited night driving.

Re: Borg Warner Overdrive in a ‘31 Model A
If the overdrive unit was allowed to run low on lubricant, the ring/sun gears will lock up with a bang. This will result in no free-wheeling and no overdrive. It sounds like a tear-down and...
