1950 Ford/Merc shop manual

Re: 40 pickup

They are hard to find and have been out of stock seemingly forever. The longer handle seems to be easier to break, thus reducing their supply.

Re: '40 or '41 Ford truck at Pearl Harbor 12/7/41

I tried to blow up the picture to see if the hood trim is wide ('41) or narrow ('40) and couldn't definitively say.

Re: No gas to engine still

A leak in the fuel line between the tank and the pump will cause it to suck air, not gas. Crazy idea, might check though.

Re: How do I check king pins for wear, 41 coupe

I'd second Rotorwrench on the honing. Soft bushings will hold abrasive particles. Hard surfaces like brake cyclinders are more reliably honed without impregnating the metal with the abrasive.

Just wondering - if water is introduced to the old rust, then would the newly forming rust breaking the parts free?

Re: 1941 Ford Pickup frame-off restore for the next generation

Whoa, the fender had residual stresses in it. When I cut the piece out that I was going to replace, it sprung into a different shape. I guess if I can get them both to look the same all will be OK.

Re: 2 year search ended, brought this home

Two years? Great work and good for you on the patience. Cool cars or cars that you specifically want seem to come out in dribbles and drabs. Just have to be that patient to get the one you want.
