Re: 39 synchronizer question

Can you tell us a little more? Is this trans out of a car and bought as working or rebuilt?

I'm curious what MacVP thinks? I'm assuming they are essential and help to keep the synchro hub in...

Re: Evans Aluminum Heads

So interesting enough, I just installed a brand new, from the box set of 1126's (Block letter version of the 1116's). I CC'd both heads and got 70cc's.

Re: Replacing, refitting and reaming new throttle shaft bushings in Strombergs

Dale,

Thank you. I have done anything yet. I'm just starting to line up things for when I have more time on my hands in a year when I retire.

Nick,

Yes, sir. Max is the Stromberg Guru...

Re: Replacing, refitting and reaming new throttle shaft bushings in Strombergs

Interesting. Thank you gentlemen. For racing, it's all wide open throttle so idling doesn't really matter,

I guess it all boils down to a little here, a little there and it adds up to a lot...

Re: Replacing, refitting and reaming new throttle shaft bushings in Strombergs

Thanks Ronnie & Tony.

Now Tony, you can't just throw a nugget like that out there and not drop some hints as to why Yates left them loose.

Replacing, refitting and reaming new throttle shaft bushings in Strombergs

Can someone tell me what's involved with replacing, refitting and reaming the throttle shaft bushing on a Stromberg 97?

It looks like the bushing is a press fit? Is that correct? What size...

Re: Cast fuel bowl leaking- round two

Need to thank 1crosscut for his suggestion. I really watched closely and it turned out the source of the leak was coming from the inside fuel line needing to be snugged up against the male nipple...

Re: Boling Brothers Brakes Question

Agree 100%. The pin & holder just need to come down a bit. Any old time NAPAs by you? If so, they should be able to help you

Re: Boling Brothers Brakes Question

I did the same thing. I used old fashioned stick chalk and scribbled on the pads. Keep working until all of the chalk was removed when brake was applied. It didn't take long with some 80 grit...

Re: Boling Brothers Brakes Question

Ddi you ask them if their kit works with Wide Five drums like you have? If so, like Bluenote mentioned, wrong pins

Re: Cast fuel bowl leaking- round two

Thanks, Dave. I'm fairly certain it's coming from there. I've done the paper towel dabbing trick and it always underneath the screw. It's small enough that it will "pool" up for a bit on the flat...

Cast fuel bowl leaking- round two

OK, so I posted a while back about my weeping/leaking cast fuel bowl for a '28 roadster. I recent took it off, ground the internal vertical seat that the drain needle seats in with a stone, found a...

Re: Pictures after head swap (hot rod content)

Thank you, GB. I'll post some full car shot in a bit. Warning, it's an old hot rod and may have the worst fuel efficiency of any car I've owned. I've calculate 12-14 mph. It could be because...

Re: Pictures after head swap (hot rod content)

These stacks come from Pat @ Muroc Products in NJ. I'll check with them on and then off, but I have noticed any issues running them.

Re: Pictures after head swap (hot rod content)

Hi Ron:

Thanks for the tip. The screen is pretty much stainless window screen, but I'll double check it for restrictions.

Re: Pictures after head swap (hot rod content)

Unfortunately, I did. The two casting "nubs" on the lower section of fins on each head weeped. I finally got them to stop with 2 doses of liquid glass, but it was still bugging me that it was...

Re: Pictures after head swap (hot rod content)

Yep. Don't tell anyone, but the a modern concession I made was using a Petronix unit in the crab dizzy, so I decided to use modern, sealed caps to keep the sparks in check.
