While the latter flathead engines oil pressure will not show much of an oil pressure loss when the fuel pump push rod is removed if the engine is in good shape there is a still a loss in delivery....

That will work fine the springs should locate nicely on the guides if they are snug not removing any metal you will be good to go.

As others have written definitely a great looking engine and great find.
One detail has me wondering the 390 CFM carb is rather small. From my experience it would be a lot better with 500 to 600...

You guys are going way over board. Don't need any where's near all that stuff to make HP and a lotta speed ;) Under 300 inches can be very powerful even with gasoline :eek:

The Ford F-1 steering box came out in 1948 this detail adds to the cool factor for a period correct early Hot Rod build.

I'm confused as to why your doing all of this when the F-1 steering box is the easiest, fastest and least expensive way to put a very good steering box on a Deuce frame.
Did I miss something...

Aluminum 8BA cam gears are easy to get many vendors offer them for sale. Overall all 8BA aluminum gears are the same so any vendor you use to buy a gear the one you get will work fine.

Hank if it was me I would simply use the F-1 box {I use them in all 4 of my Deuces} its much smaller than the F-100 and as others have posted the stock 32 arm fits perfectly.
An additional bonus...

Its not a Ford its missing the clearance for the starter cover on the oil pan. Also there's some missing bolt holes as well as the dowl pin alignment holes. And the throw out bearing shaft pivot...
