Re: Solenoid clicking. Won't start

I would pull the starter like you mentioned. Did you try to turn the engine by hand? starter might be locked up.

Re: 8BA Bell housing

The starter plate from the Mercury will fit the cast truck housing the difference being the truck is recessed for the dicast seal that bolts on the last two oil pan bolts. If you don't use the seal...

You have a 35-36 mount on the transmission and a 37-40 mount on the frame. You need to change the rear mount on the transmission.

Re: 1950 sedan ignition switch

You have to pull the switch toward you to collapse the spring that seats against the inside of the dash. Rotate until the grooves line up and release.

Re: Clutch Release Shaft Bushing tool

Try the hose clamp around the bushing. It works just like the piston ring compressor as you drive the bushing in. I ruined two before I tried the clamp.

Re: Clutch Release Shaft Bushing tool

Last time I did one with a driver I put a hose clamp around the outside to keep it from collapsing the split bushing. worked great.

Re: Wheels Rotating in Opposite Direction

The 2nd and third gear synchronizer isn't centered in the hub. Is the shift lever in neutral? Before you put the top back on put it on the ground and see if it will roll.

Re: Wheels Rotating in Opposite Direction

Sounds like two gears at once in the transmission. Maybe the shift forks weren't engaged in the grove when the top was put back on.
