Re: Oil Pump?
I don't believe any of that for a minute. Did you know that the factory specification for oil pressure for an 8BA was 57psi at speed. Even the early engines ran a lot more than 10-15 psi unless they...

Re: 1935 front motor mount
As I understand it the difference is between pre and post 1941. Hurst lists the spacer for use their standard mount series in '35-'40 Fords. (they were initially designed to be used for '41 through...

Probably the original 1CM. Anyone have the specs for an EAB? Tilden has the Merc specs.

I'm not anywhere close to being ta radio expert, but doesn't the fact that it makes a noise when he turns it on suggest that the vibrator may be good? I believe I have also heard that the...

Re: Bucket seats for 50 Ford
If your seat is in bad condition you might want to consider a set of these on eBay : https://www.ebay.com/itm/325564645547. I'm considering getting a set to protect my decent original upholstery.

Re: Upgrading to a different carb/intake?
Nice engine; it just needs more carburetors:D (the "look", you know). Unfortunately, that will require a distributor change. I prefer vintage "flattop" Mallory's".
BTW "Sunnybob", do you by chance...

Re: 40 Sedan Deluxe Speaker install - No studs?
Just throwing this out. Perhaps fabricate some brackets to mount the speaker on the radio body in approximately the stock location? I know this depends on a lot of things, but since later components...

Re: Upgrading to a different carb/intake?
As I first said, "I have no idea". My knowledge of the detail on the French Fords is close to zero. I just wanted to raise a warning about the standard Ford "Load-A-Matic" system being an odd beast....

Re: chevy dizzy for flatheads
Now that you have Charlie's contact information, I think he would probably be the best one to answer this. He may also be able to supply the proper core.

Re: Upgrading to a different carb/intake?
Boy, I have no idea. Does the French distributor work on the "Load-A-Matic" principle? If so, the carb from your link most likely won't work right. All in all, I think it's a bad idea. The original...

Re: Edelbrock 1107 4 barrel intake for 8ba
Did you try an original Ford/Merc tube? We don't even know if the manifold is too big or the tube is too small. (Knowing Speedway, I'd bet on the tube being wrong.) If you have a dial calipers,...

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
"Relief" is kind of a odd word here. Generally, any time you remove material from the combustion chamber, you are "relieving" it. Where the misunderstanding comes in is that "relieving" has a special...

Re: Hirsch Auto Auction Sale
I think the market is drying up. I sold over 500 of my "Trash Can" condensers over a 7 year period. It was not a big volume, but steady. Then the demand just stopped about a year and a half ago. I...

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
A couple of things. First, I never use radical high lift cams (usually just a "MAX-1") and have never found a problem with clearance over the valves. I do put a large foil ball on each valve head on...

Re: 1940 Ford Zenith Radio
In my experience, tubes are usually good if the radio appears to be clean and not molested. That's good because they can be hard to find and relatively expensive. Capacitors are usually bad and easy...

Re: 97 carb on a 51 8ba
While the 97 does flow a bit more (162 cfm vs 155 cfm) due to slightly larger venturi's, more improvement could be had by using a later "Y-Block" Holley (185 cfm) that is still compatible with the...

Nope; never saw the point of it. I remember that my older brother did it on our '51 Fordor back in the fifties and replaced it within a week.
One caveat : I have heard that back then "Western...

Re: Automotive switch ratings?
I don't think current type matters, since it's not given in the rating. "Watts is watts", so it shouldn't be relevant. There may be some esoteric difference with the way the contacts handle the...

Re: Automotive switch ratings?
Watts (VoltsXAmps) is a rating of total power, which would determine if the switch could handle the load.
So we have :
12X6=72 Watts required
6X125V=750 Watts
3X250V=750 Watts...
