Re: 34 Pickup head lights
In general a sealed bean conversion is a very bad idea. If the bulb is behind the lens the lens will defocus the beam. If it replaces the lens it will look like the eyes of a monster in a late...

Re: Can’t determine battery ground
Install the battery using your best guess. Note the positive post is slightly larger so that might be a clue. Turn on the lights. If the ammeter goes positive you have it backwards.

Re: 1929 Model A With 12v Conversion
Provide a path for half of the current to go around the ammeter. The photo shows what I did in my '32 where there is plenty of room behind the dash. The loop in the wire is to make the resistance...

Re: Replacing hydraulic brake lines
I hadn't heard that Clings went out of business, are you sure? Without Clings I would remove my existing lines and have a local brake shop duplicate them. To save money and depending on the length...

Re: Photo test to Post
There is a separate forum for testing, https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13 It is good because you can experiment there as much as you want without worrying about bothering others. ...

Re: 36' Headlight Reflector Size
I would have them aluminum plated. Sounds cheap but it is what they do for medical mirrors and spacecraft mirrors. It will probably cost more than silver. Try UVIRA, (541) 474-5050

Re: Brake Drum Reinforcing Bands
I would look for them at swap meets, that is what I did 40 years ago. Buy scrap drums with the bands and drive them off with a punch.

Re: Model A engine in a 32 Model B
Problems:
It will drop the value of the car about 4K.
You will have 10 less HP.
You will need a fuel pump.
I would put a 4 cylinder Chevy II or Burtz engine in before I would put in a Model A...

Re: model a engine
Another more important question is if it was rebuilt, who rebuilt it? I know one local rebuilder that I consider their work so bad that I would rather have a tired engine than one they rebuilt. Do...

Re: Can't replace hub after replacing brake pads.
Sounds like it may be the problem I had on my '37. My drums were all NOS. Did a little digging and found out that the suppliers at that time routinely arced all the shoes for .030 drums. I sent...

Re: 16" Wheels
When I put 600-16's in the fender well of my '31 I had to let the air out and carry a pump.

Re: 1934 hydraulic rear brakes
If I didn't go to Boling Bros I would use '40-'48 Ford brakes. Remember pre and post war were slightly different and I would prefer the post war but at least make them all the same. I have them on...

Re: Model B Ford 4 cylinder identification
The rear mount for the Model B transmission was a flat plate that bolted to the "K" member in the '32 frame. The center was isolated in rubber to reduce vibration.

Re: Model B Ford 4 cylinder identification
The Model A flywheel will work on the Model B motor. If you decide to run a Model B transmission you will need to cut down the the Model A flywheel to clear the bell housing which has probably...
