Heater core for a 57 Monarch - Same as Monterey

Heater core is leaking. Can't find anything available online except at brassworks and by the time it's shipped to Canada it would be 700 bucks.

The 57 Monarch is the same as the Mercury Monterey and I cannot find any heater cores online. It is a bit different from the Ford with the mounting tabs on the other side.

Does anyone have a Mercury parts book that can give me the Ford part number? I get better results with that number when searching.

Thanks.

Here is the link to Lincoln & Mercury parts books online: https://www.lincolnoldparts.com/parts-books

I looked up the heater core for a '57 & '58 Merc without air conditioning, part # shows FEK-18476-A. With factory air - FEK-18476-C. But - double check to make sure it is for your application.

I didn't do a cross-match or check for updated or replaced part # but it should be a good starting point. Good luck

It can't be re-cored?

Take the old core to a radiator shop and see if either they can fix it or find another core.

Re: Heater core for a 57 Monarch - Same as Monterey

I was greatly discouraged when I took the core to a local rad shop and over the counter they told me it would be $425.00 or more.

I left on good terms but a bad taste in my mouth. The only other shop I've dealt with recently lost my radiator for 5 weeks, and I refuse to go back there.

There used to be about 8 to 10 rad shops in the Edmonton area back in the day but not anymore. Only three in the area.

Tried another shop that said it might be about 200 bucks, but the guy that does heater cores is back Thursday and will confirm with a quote.

So that sounds hopeful, sure beats the other options. We will see what happens and I'll let you guys know.

Maybe if you can find a shop such as this on the interscreen in CAN?

How close do you live to the US border?

I forgot to update this earlier, had it recored locally, worked out to 300 bucks. They did a very nice job, it has been leak free for two months.
