Clutch Question

Love these old cars-seems like there is always something but then again shes 93 years old. With the car running, I depress the clutch pedal, put the car in gear, and with the clutch pedal still depressed, when I take my foot off the brake, the car is in gear and moving. What is the first thing I should check? Thanks. Steve

Check your adjustment on clutch.

Enjoy.

Will do. The pedal free play just shy of an inch. Thank you.

You need about 1” to 1.5” of free play.

Enjoy.

Re: Clutch Question

Gotcha. I believe if I turn the clevis counter clockwise it should increase the pedal play.

Re: Clutch Question

Check for a crack in the clutch shaft lever at the locking pin.

I had that happen. Easy fix with the new levers the vendors sell.

Re: Clutch Question

It may also be possible that the clutch fingers are not adjusted equally. If I remember correctly they should be adjusted to within 0.002 inch of each other. If they are not adjusted equally one side of the pressure plate could be dragging.
