Re: question for old guys I'll take a guess...is it possible that maybe they were put there to take up wear between the clam shells and the bell on the torque tube. Who knows why some barnyard repairs were made like that?

Re: question for old guys Because the best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup!

Re: question for old guys Why only for old guys?
|
Re: question for old guys From an old guy.
Whoever did the fix ,did it wrong. Folgers was normally not used for the fix but store brand cans were because they were cheaper. |
Re: question for old guys Ronn & Seth, you both stole my thunder.

Re: question for old guys Sorry, Can’t answer. I won’t be old until July. 70 years. Used to be 60 but once I got there, I extended it by 10 years.

Re: question for old guys They were there for no good reason. I'm old enough to remember a time when Folgers coffee did not exist.:)

Re: question for old guys I don't remember seeing any grease under Mrs Olsens fingernails.

Re: question for old guys Ok I just turned 71 so I guess I amd old!:) Folgers, well why not. If its still there and intack it may have done its job? Now is/ was something worn out? Probably!
We may need pictures! Regards, Chris |
Re: question for old guys Tubman, Ho, ho, ho. I guess I was referring to when they were acquired by P&G.

Re: question for old guys The post is a little confusing. Where exactly were the "shims"? Just laying inside, or used on the clamshell itself?
I've used an old .45 caliber shell for a bushing on a shifter rod before. They're brass, and it was the perfect size. Sometimes....what works...works. |
Re: question for old guys I should have been 80 this year but I was sick for a year so I'm only 79!
|
Re: question for old guys Could they possibly been trying to make up for a worn out or absent cork or felt seal in the groove in the very rear of the cover? Not likely.

Re: question for old guys That is what my parents always drank - believe it was in a big red can? When I started building my 34 Fourdoor, lots of those cans were used for nuts, bolts and small parts. Hell, I probably still have some out in the shop.
