Flathead book I am going to rebuild a 36 ford flathead. I have never rebuilt a motor before and am looking for the best step by step book on rebuilding a flathead ford. What suggestions does anyone have.

Re: Flathead book This is a good one. But you can find it a lot cheaper from a book store than what amazon wants. http://www.amazon.com/Build-Flathead...6875129&sr=1-6

Re: Flathead book I also like Joe Abbin's books: http://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Flathe...4ZVM1XQVKGFJPW

Re: Flathead book Jacob, I have some of the valve tools you'll need. When you get up this way you are more than welcome to borrow them. Should also have some of the service manuals. I have a boxes of V8 times you also can borrow.

Re: Flathead book Your best bet would be an old motors manual. Something from the late 30's try a library.

This is another great book. Tells you everything that you should know about the Flathead Ford V8 Engines. |
Re: Flathead book Having dedicated flathead tools is a must, IMO. A brake drum puller, a valve pry bar, a valve retainer hook (I made mine from 3/16 rod). Most things can be done with regular tools, but having those dedicated flathead tools makes life so much easier, and they're not expensive.

Re: Flathead book In addition to the books mentioned I also find a Motors Manual from the period has very good information on repair of all parts of the car. Most of it step by step. You can pick one up on ebay.
