ID This Grille Please

This grille was in my '40 Pickup when I bought it. I have since installed a '40 standard grille.

Any idea what this grille is from?

Apologies for the rotated photo. It doesn't show up this way when I import it.

Looks like a kuztomized 39 ford repop grill.

Thanks! I didn't see any stamping or markings on it so wasn't sure.

The bars are too narrow and manifold for a COE grille.

My money would be on it being a modified '39 DeLuxe grille. I'm not sure if the '40 Standard grille is identical to a '39 DeLuxe or not. Of course, I've always been easy money in anything gambling, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

Could it have been for a military pickup, no chrome etc.

Thanks Marv, hadn't considered military. I'll check on Google for some examples.

No way there's any kind of "military" secrets involved with that concoction. I'm with skidmarks ..........that's some kind of repro unit that's been "slightly-gomezed". DD
