New Tires,...and storage off the car..

I bought 6 new Goodyear's mounted on powder coated wheels, which are
the wrong color, not BLACK. The problem is storage, ...my car is not ready
for the wheels / tires, and "NO", I not lending them too anyone!
The questions...

1. Do I leave them mounted(harder to store), off the ground. Will the tires
come off the rims easily in say 2 years?

2. Take them off now and store them in "bags"?

3. The new tubes,...store them in bags also,...with some air in them?

Thanks, Dudley

d.j. do you mean whitewalls? In that case don't stack them on top of each other directly, the whitewalls will turn brown.

I'd think the best way to store them would be to leave them mounted, keep them in a cool spot out of sunlight, and set them vertically. Rig up a 2X4 framing bolted to the studs on a garage wall perhaps. I suppose for overkill, swab them down with silicone and bag each one in a large brown paper bag like people use for leaf collection.

If you need to repaint the rims, then I'd probably go ahead and take the tires off now and store them the same way.

Good luck a set of six Goodyears ain't cheap:eek:

I bought a set of 5 new whitewall Goodyears mounted on red painted 19" rims, about 12 years ago. They will look good on my black 31 Town Sedan. I've had them stored, as I bought them, in my garage. If they were off the rims, then I'd put the inner tubes inside the tires and air them up just enough to fill the tire shape. Again, a cool dark space. I have a set of 21" like this in my basement.

Okay,...thanks for the advice ! They are Black wall...

I decided to remove the tires from the rims for storage. They have new tubes, marked
"radial" on the stems(forgot to look at who made them). They also have "flaps", not
the usual "band" too protect the tube,...whoa, the flaps are about $28 each!

The flaps got me thinking about the metal stems and the bridge washer. Would the
correct order, with flaps, be,....tube, metal stem, flap, bridge washer then the nut?
The flaps are quite thick!

I've used truck flaps for AA wheels, but I didn't know flaps would even fit an A wheel.

Tom,...Snyder's have them in there 2015 catalog, page A-97,....they don't
show-up on there "on line' catalog..
The flap itself is quite stiff, I had to work hard too get the tire dismounted.
Sure makes it hard to get the tire to drop in the center of the rim..

Snyder's on-line catalog:
• A-1025-AR for 21" wheels
• A-1025-BR for 19" wheels
• A-1025-CR for Truck 20" wheels
