Wiring re: coil (6V)/ 1940 Ford DeLuxe Conv. Need to replace my coil which is remoted from distributor via kit. The old coil has 2 posts, one says "Dist.", the other says "Batt."; however, in following the wires the one that says "Dist. goes to the battery, and the one that says "Batt." is wired to the distributor and that always worked very well.I am now further confused inasmuch as the new coil has only + and - markings to identify the poles and I am at a loss as to determine what should be wired to what. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Wiring re: coil (6V)/ 1940 Ford DeLuxe Conv. + goes to the distributor and - goes to the battery. That is if you are still running a positive ground system.

Re: Wiring re: coil (6V)/ 1940 Ford DeLuxe Conv. Ross- thanks so much, but my car has a negative ground. Does that change your instructions?

Re: Wiring re: coil (6V)/ 1940 Ford DeLuxe Conv. I think Ross will say yes.

Re: Wiring re: coil (6V)/ 1940 Ford DeLuxe Conv. The wire from the coil to the distributor needs to be the same polarity as the battery ground. If your battery is negative ground use the (-) termonal to the distributer.
