I need Simca "V8-60" help

Hi Guys,
My machine shop called me (knowing I do V8-60 stuff) asking if I had any info on the Simca / Vedette "60". I don't. They want to know where in the world to get the rod bearings for that engine. I was told the rod bearings appear to be 1.753 insert bearings. Can anyone help with more detailed info? Thanks!

Post this question on the chevybarn.com. they have a non-chevy fourm. David Dunbar seems to have a handle on the simca v8 60. He owns many of them.

If you are a V-8 Club member use your roster and look up Doug Clem in Nevada. He has put Simca heads on a V-8 60 andhas some good knowledge of Simca stuff.

Re: I need Simca "V8-60" help

I have been tracking down parts for an acquaintance in NZ who is putting together a Vedette engine, and he got stuck on the same part. Rod bearings are available in France but they are $500 - 800 a set. An option is to use BMC 1098 or 1275 (AH Sprite, MG Midget) rod bearings. The width is very close and that is not the important measurement, they are staked bearings, and it would only require regrinding the crank to the standard BMC big end sizes. Vedette standard crankpin diameter = 1.7455 - 1.7555, BMC is 1.6254 - 1.6259. That means that standard BMC big end bearings are .1191 - .1196 undersize for the Vedette. IThere are many sources for the BMC bearings.

Re: I need Simca "V8-60" help

This SIMCA was produced in Brazil from 1959 to 1968.
In Brazil there are many parts for these engines.
It was used by Simca in France until 1961 for cars and even later in Brazil (1968) by Simca / Chrysler. Until 1966 for versions Simca then until 1968 with a head akin to the Ardun (OHV conversion)
