Which direction do you crank a flathead?

I have a stuck short block sitting on a dolly that I'm trying to free up. Read the earlier post of how to unstick a motor but in my case, does it matter which way I try to rotate the crank? I know that it would normally turn one way to run but being a short block does it matter?

Clockwise when viewed from the front of the engine.

Pull the cam gear & then you take the stuck valves out of the equation.

when trying to free a stuck engine it doesnt matter which way you turn it, you need to turn it both ways till it frees up anyway, lots of penetrate and patience is what is needed

I have pulled the distributor on a couple of stuck model "A" engines and they turned. It was luck one time and now I pull the dizzie first every time. We had a stuck engine and my brother pulled the distributor and it was kind of rusty. We turned the crank and the engine was free. We did were lucky a couple of times.

oops- wrong forum- thought i was on the 28-31
